Convert a Car to Electric - Electric Motor Tips

Unlike the conventional internal combustion engine, the electric car operates on electric energy. The power from the batteries will make the car move. These batteries give electric current to the motor which propels the car forward and backward as needed. The motor is the equivalent of the internal combustion engine and can be said to be the most important part of the electric car. In many cases, the type of motor installed had determined how much the electric car will cost.

The motor plays an important part n the electric vehicle. It is the major determinant of the price of the car. Again it determines how fast the car can go. Some motors are faster than others.

ELECTRIC

If you are converting the electric car on your own, you may want to know the kind of motor you would want to fix in your car. You would have to to chose between two options: You can have a DC conversion or an SAC conversion. The DC conversion is cheaper and may not be able to give top speed. It is very easy to install too. The Ac conversion on the other hand will fit many cars and will offer very high speed. It is also expensive but will be able to last long.

Technology wise, there are several variations of the motor. You have the Warp Series DC motors. This type of motor will give you high torque making it suitable for heavy trucks or large sedans. The there is the Advanced DC series that suits large cars too and are pretty expensive. The most common type of motor is the Permanent Magnet DC which powers especially large EVs.

It must also be mentioned that the Shaft Coupler - Motor to Transmission must be made of the right metal to resist heating and at the same time be strong enough to carry out its functions. It must be of the right size and be able to fit into position without the need for adjustment.
